The legal services at Lewis & Trovas Family Lawyers are led by our Principal Lawyer, Naomi Lewis. Naomi is widely known as a sensitive, solution-focused family lawyer, and an astute economics and financial consultant, whose career has spanned over fifteen years.
Naomi has extensive experience in all areas of family law, including:
Property settlements for married and de facto couples
Spousal maintenance
Child support matters
Parenting disputes, including relocation, alienation and “risk matters”
Domestic violence matters, representing both victims of domestic violence and alleged perpetrators of domestic violence
Financial agreements, including pre-nuptial agreements (“prenups”)
Surrogacy and adoption
Child protection
Naomi’s background in economics and finance means that she is well placed to manage complex property settlements and financial matters, particularly involving corporate and trust structures.
Naomi utilises multiple dispute resolution techniques to reach outcomes for her clients in an efficient manner. This includes without prejudice round table conferencing, mediation, and collaborative practice. Naomi also has extensive litigation experience, including solicitor advocacy. Naomi has prepared countless matters for interim and final determination in Court. Naomi regularly appears in the Federal Circuit Court of Australia, the Family Court of Australia, the Queensland Magistrates Court and Queensland Children’s Court. Naomi is also adept at preparing financial matters for Arbitration.
Naomi is respected across the family law fraternity, and enjoys positive working relationships with her peers. Naomi is also committed to maintaining strong working relationships with colleagues in associated professions (such as, accountants, financial planners, counsellors, psychologists, mediators, family consultants and communication experts) to ensure that her clients are best supported as they progress through their family law matter.
Naomi has been at the forefront of leadership in the family law fraternity, previously sitting on the Board of the Family Law Practitioners Association (FLPA); the Steering Committee of the Queensland Family Law Pathways Network; and the Family Law Residential Planning Committee jointly led by FLPA and the Queensland Law Society. Naomi annually presents for the Queensland Law Society on family law frameworks for financial matters. Naomi holds a Bachelor of Economics and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Queensland and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Australian National University.
